Finally, a smart film production company – Warner Bros, to be specific – takes the challenge of translating the world of Xanth to the silver screen. In recent news, Warner Bros. has attached – if they’re not using the word “hire”, does this mean it’s still a 50/50 deal? – Chris Palmer (he was lightning storeman in King Kong and a rigger in the LOTR trilogy) to direct while Wolfgang Petersen (director of Poseidon and Troy) is set to produce.

Warner Bros has rights to adapt the book into a movie until 2008. I do hope they’ll exercise their right soon, although I’m afraid they might decide to wait for the HP series to end before starting a new fantasy line.
